This website belongs to the practice of Dr. Ashraful Huq, Consultant Ophthalmologist, who sees patients at Bangladesh Eye Hospital & Institute in Dhanmondi and Zigatola. If you have a question about your information, or you want it removed, contact any of our chambers using the phone numbers on our Contact page. Ask for the person handling website enquiries and they will pass it on.

Before you start a conversation with our assistant, we ask for your name, age, sex, marital status, and a phone number or email address. We also keep what you tell us about your eyes, including the messages you send during the conversation and anything you write in the appointment form.

Separately, our website records basic technical information: which pages were opened, roughly which device was used, and a short code that lets us recognise a returning browser. We store a scrambled version of your network address rather than the address itself, so it cannot be traced back to you.

Your contact details let our office call you back and confirm an appointment. What you tell us about your symptoms lets our assistant give you relevant guidance, and lets Dr. Huq prepare before you arrive, so your time in the chamber is spent on your eyes rather than on repeating your history.

The technical information tells us which parts of the website people actually use and whether anything is broken. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not run advertising on this site.

The guidance you receive in the chat is generated by software, not written by Dr. Huq personally. To produce a reply, the words you type are sent to a specialist language service outside Bangladesh that processes them and returns an answer. This is worth knowing before you type: treat the conversation the way you would treat writing to a clinic, and share only what you are comfortable sharing.

We do not send your name, phone number or email address to that service. It receives the description of your symptoms so it can respond to them.

Your details go to Dr. Huq and the staff who run his chambers, so they can arrange and prepare for your visit. A copy of your appointment request is emailed to the office for the same reason.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with insurers, employers, marketers or anyone else who wants it for their own purposes. The only other case is a legal one: if a court or a regulator formally requires us to produce records, we have to comply.

We keep what you have sent us for as long as it is useful to your care. A record of a past visit helps when you come back a year later with the same eye. If you would rather we did not keep it, tell us and we will remove it. Call any chamber, say you want your information from the website deleted, and give the phone number or email you used so we can find the right record. We will confirm once it is done.

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct something that is wrong, or ask us to delete it. You do not need a reason and there is no charge. The same contact route applies: phone the chamber and ask for the person handling website enquiries.

Parents often use this site on behalf of a child, and that is fine. You are giving us the information, not the child. We ask that a parent or guardian handles the conversation and the booking rather than leaving a child to do it alone.

We use two small pieces of stored data, and neither is for advertising. One remembers whether you chose English or বাংলা, so the site stays in your language when you return. The other is the short code mentioned above, which keeps your conversation attached to you while you are using it. Clearing your browser data removes both.

If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than quietly edited in.
