SMILE Surgery

Hello! I’m Dr. Ashraful Huq, your dedicated SMILE surgeon, specializing in SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) surgery. At our clinic, we are committed to providing you with advanced eye care solutions using the latest technology. Our goal is to help you achieve optimal vision with procedures tailored specifically to your eyes.

SMILE surgery, or Small Incision Lenticule Extraction, is a modern laser eye surgery procedure performed to correct refractive errors such as myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism. This minimally invasive technique uses a femtosecond laser to create a small, disc-shaped piece of tissue within the cornea, which is then removed through a tiny incision, reshaping the cornea and correcting vision.

As your SMILE surgeon, I use a state-of-the-art femtosecond laser to create a small, lens-shaped bit of tissue (lenticule) within your cornea. With just a small incision (less than 4mm), I remove this lenticule, which alters the shape of the cornea and corrects your vision. This technique does not require the creation of a corneal flap, leading to a faster recovery and fewer complications.

Minimally Invasive

As there’s no need to create a large corneal flap, the procedure is minimally invasive, enhancing safety and reducing healing time.

Quick Recovery

Many patients notice improved vision almost immediately after surgery, with most returning to their normal activities within a couple of days.

Reduced Dry Eye Symptoms

Since SMILE surgery involves a smaller incision, it preserves more corneal nerves, reducing the risk of dry eye symptoms post-operation.

High Precision and Effectiveness

Utilizing advanced femtosecond laser technology allows for high precision in correcting visual errors, resulting in highly effective outcomes.

SMILE surgery is ideal for patients who are looking for a fast, effective solution to myopia and astigmatism. However, the best way to determine if you are a candidate is through a comprehensive eye examination and consultation. During your visit, we’ll conduct thorough tests, discuss your vision goals, and review your eye health history to ensure that SMILE surgery is the most suitable option for you.

Expertise and Experience

As an experienced SMILE surgeon, you are in safe hands with a team that prioritizes your vision and well-being.

Patient-Centric Approach

We take the time to understand your needs and vision aspirations, ensuring that every aspect of your care is tailored to you.

State-of-the-Art Technology

Our clinic is equipped with the latest in laser eye surgery technology, ensuring precise and safe procedures.

Comprehensive Care

From initial consultation to post-surgery follow-up, we provide continuous care and support to ensure your vision improvement journey is smooth and successful.

While both SMILE surgery and LASIK aim to correct vision by reshaping the cornea, SMILE surgery is less invasive. Unlike LASIK, SMILE does not involve creating a corneal flap. Instead, a SMILE surgeon uses a laser to make a small incision, through which a piece of the cornea is removed. This results in fewer complications related to corneal flaps, such as dry eyes and flap dislocation.

Recovery from SMILE surgery is relatively quick. Most patients experience a significant improvement in their vision within a day after the procedure. However, it may take a few weeks for your vision to fully stabilize. Most patients return to their normal activities within 1-3 days, following post-operative instructions to ensure a smooth recovery.
